BAKER TWENTY-TWO | HETEROSEXUAL | MUSICIAN | CITIZEN | TAYLOR MOMSEN ABRASIVE. she's not nice. easily offended folks would be well served to just steer clear of her. she doesn't think before she speaks, and doesn't really care what you think. it's a bad combination. she steps on toes from time to time. BUDGET. she spends most of her money on rent, food, and utilities. she's not a deadweight, she does chip in her fair share for the apartment. after that, she spends a lot on music equipment and upkeep for her guitar. after all of that is out of the way, she spends what's left on clothes and make up, which she goes through a lot of. she tries not to pay for anything she doesn't have to, like drinks or inexpensive things. CHICAGO. chicago is a city that will always be very near and dear to her heart. after she ran away for the first (successful) time, she slowly made her way up to illinois, hitchhiking, hopping trains, doing anything and everything she could to go as far as she could manage from wichita. she wound up in chicago, where she met skylar for the first time, and things just sort of went well from there. chicago is the city she would consider to be where she belonged, if she felt that way about any particular place. DISTRUSTING. it's hard to grow up mostly on your own. you learn to be self reliant, and that you are most likely the only one with your best interests in mind. she takes what most people say with a grain of salt, and has a lot of walls to break through before someone might be considered close to her. she might like you well enough, but she's just waiting for you to let her down or leave her. it's human nature. she doesn't hold it against anyone, it's just what she expects of most everyone. ENERGY DRINKS. she probably has about three of these a day. monster is her favorite, but she'll settle for just about anything with caffeine. she hates sleeping, and has trouble actually falling asleep, even if she's tired. solution? lots of energy drinks during the day, and by the time night comes around, they wear off and give her a huge crash. insomnia isn't fun, and staying up alone all night can get boring. it's the best she can do. FIGHTER. she’s always been one. it’s in her nature, in her blood. monroe is easily aggravated, and won’t back down from a damn thing, occasionally instigating, if she’s got nothing better to do. broken noses and bruises are no stranger to her. the rush and thrill of winning a fight. GUITAR. she started playing when she was little. her parents thought it would be a great distraction, and then they wouldn’t have to entertain her as much. it turned out that she loved it. her first guitar was a children’s acoustic, and she played the hell out of the thing. after she was out of that home, she saved her money and bought an electric. she taught herself to play, and she practices for hours every day. she sings, too. being a musician is the best she could have ever hoped for. HARLEY DAVIDSON. the worst brand of motorcycle, according to monroe. they're too big, too bulky, and she really doesn't like them one bit. she loves cars, but she's very particular about the kinds of motorcycles she agrees with. she prefers fast and sleek, which generally comes in bikes she could never afford. INTUITIVE. go with your gut, that's the phrase to live by. when practically the only person you can trust is yourself, it can be pretty difficult to make decisions, especially when there isn't any past experience to go off of. because of this, she's honed the skill of listening to her instincts in any situation that she would need to decide something for herself. it's damn near impossible to tell monroe anything, because she is almost definitely not going to listen to you. JEALOUS. monroe always wants what other people have. whatever she’s got is not enough. she needs everything. in the event that she wants what someone else has, she will go to extreme measures to get it. nothing is off limits here: men, clothes, skills. if you’ve got something that she wants, you best keep a close eye on it. once she gets it, though, she usually gets bored of it rather quickly and moves on to something else. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. this band was her very first concert. she saw them live in chicago when she was about seventeen. it's one of her favorite memories. she wasn't supposed to be there; she didn't have a ticket, and it was in a bar. she'd snuck in with the tech through an alleyway back door while they'd been loading in equipment, and the rest is history. killswitch engage will always be one of her favorite bands. LIAR. not that you would know it. monroe will lie and cheat and con her way through anything she can. if it benefits her, you can bet that she'll go for it. she's manipulative and conniving, and only thinking about herself when it comes to life. she's here for her, and she's going to make it as easy as she can. she'll never admit to a wrongdoing. MUSIC. music is one of the few constant things in her life. she loves it more than anything else that she knows of. it can change her mood, cleanse her soul, make her a better person. it speaks to her, it moves her. it’s the basis of everything that she is. monroe blasts it from the apartment constantly. NIRVANA. she wishes more than anything that she could see them live in person. there will always be videos of their shows, but it is never the same as the real thing. she never performs on the night of kurt cobain's death, out of respect for the loss of one of the great musicians of his time. OPIATES. she's always been more of an alcohol person. some might say it's because of her mother, she just says she's never had the chance. following her yes-man attitude, however, she has tried some prescription medication. namely codeine. it's expensive, so she usually can't swing it, but it helps her fall asleep without the energy drinks, and she always feels good. PRETENTIOUS. appearances aren't everything, but they are kind of a big deal. she wants to have the best of everything, just for herself. it's a personal thing. she likes to try to make herself seem as steady as possible, because her personal life is none of your damn business. QUICK-WITTED. she thinks on her feet. monroe responds quickly to most situations, and prides herself on that. she is good to have around in a pinch, and had pretty good reflexes. RUNAWAY. back in wichita, her life was not good. at all. her father was involved in gang activity, and there were times when his brothers would come over. having a child around during these meetings was bad, so she'd be locked in a "child proofed" room until the gang members were gone. her mother was an ex addict that felt like she had nowhere else to go. her mother and father would get into fights, and they could get violent. when monroe was fourteen, her mother picked the needle back up. she decided enough was enough at sixteen, and left. she doesn't hate them, doesn't think poorly of them. she just couldn't shake the feeling that she was meant to do something more than take care of her mother and worry about her father. if anything, her background made her stronger. SKYLAR. skylar gordon is her best friend, and one of the few people she trusts unconditionally. they met in chicago, when she was about sixteen. she’d just run away, and neither of them really had any place to go, and things just sort of clicked for them- they helped each other out, they became companions. they were a team, especially when it came to stealing. eventually, when he wanted to move on, she went with him. that’s just how it goes. THIEF. no income, no high school diploma, hardly anything but the clothes on her back. stealing seemed to be the rational thing to do. mixed with her inclination towards jealousy, it seemed like a second nature. she started doing it to get by, but lately, she doesn't need to steal to survive. she does it for the thrill and the results. she has money, but stealing seems like a habit now, and you can't teach an old dog new tricks. UNSYMPATHETIC. if you have a problem, she genuinely does not care. it doesn't affect her in any way, shape, or form. she is horrid at comforting people, and doesn't even know how to appropriately deal with her own problems- why would you want her to help you with yours? if, for some reason, acting concerned about your personal issues would benefit monroe, she would be the first to try to help. would she be successful? probably not, but it's the thought that counts, isn't it? VANILLA. the best flavor of ice cream and cake, in monroe's opinion. it's simple, but it's good, and you could always add things to it depending on your mood. she will, without fail, choose it over chocolate or strawberry. WANDERER. it’s difficult for her to stay the same for a long period of time. sitting still, thinking about the same topic, hell, she has issues with long-term boyfriends. monroe is always in a state of motion, either mentally or physically. staying in brunswick for as long as she’s been here has already proved to be a challenge, and if she thinks about that for too long, it makes her anxious. she’s a free spirit. no one place feels like home to her other than the road. XEROX. four years ago, before she was a musician, monroe briefly worked as a secretary in a law firm office. she absolutely hated it. she couldn't dress the way she wanted to, act the way she wanted to, and it was so... boring. it basically confirmed that she was not meant to work in an office, and led her to pursue music more seriously. it's what she's passionate about, and the only place she can really be herself. YES. "yes" brings new experiences and opportunities into someone's life, and monroe loves to open new doors. she's always up for trying something new, and she likes to think of herself as being adventurous. she's always going to try things, especially if it could be fun or exciting. ZODIAC. she closely follows her horoscope. it's one of the few things that she's actually superstitious about, and she will read them almost religiously, rain or shine, day in and day out. stand between monroe and her horoscope, and you'll be in a bad situation.
