Use common sense. It’s not that hard. I promise. All of the standard roleplaying rules apply here. No godmodding, powerplaying, stealing, disrespecting other members, spamming, or advertising. II. Leave drama with the characters. We all are supposed to love each other, hold hands in a circle, and sing Kumbaya. Drama will not be tolerated, especially if someone is severely offended. Take any misunderstandings to a private place. If a negotiation isn’t possible, please feel free to hit up a staff member. They’re here to help. III. LOGIN TO YOUR ACCOUNTS EVERYDAY. Yes, it’s in caps and bolded because it’s extremely important. It will probably take you five seconds and it makes us look super active. Activity equals new members. Get my drift? (; IV. Please don’t join if you don’t plan on staying active. I know how terrible that sounds, but we’ve all experienced the jacknut who joins, makes four awesome characters, and suddenly falls off the face of the earth. What is active? Well, you must adhere to rule three. Make sure you’re logging into your accounts every day because we’ll delete any accounts that haven’t been logged into for a week. Posting is also imperative on a roleplay site. We’d like you to post at least once a week. That’s no sweat, right? If you don’t post on each account at least once every two weeks, you’re also susceptible to deletion. V. Activity checks and spotlight nominations are held once a month. That doesn’t mean they’ll always be held at the same time every month. As long as you’re active and plan on staying active (coughrulefourcough), this shouldn’t be a problem for you. In order to be eligible for a spotlight nomination, you must have an active thread going. Just saying. VI. Play nice in the cbox. Don’t say something snippy that will offend someone or spam. That’s not cool. I know we sometimes get really excited about plots, so I’m also going to ask you to keep plotting and inside jokes in the cbox to a minimum. Don’t leave anyone out. We’re supposed to be a family! VII. We are a PG-13 environment. In accordance to the Proboards Terms of Service, you must water down the mature content. If you'd like to roleplay intimacy or illegal content off the forum, knock yourself out. Graphics must also be appropriate. No one wants to see that. VIII. Please have a signature and avatar set. Signatures may not exceed 475 width and 500 height. Your avatar may not exceed 150 width and 200 height. No exceptions. REGISTRATION REGISTRATION REGISTRATION REGISTRATION REGISTRATION I. Be realistic. We accept all ages of characters (over fourteen), but do you honestly think Ian Somerhalder can pull off a high school student anymore? Your characters must be within five years of your play-by’s age; however, we may make some exceptions. Just ask us first! II. Try to keep the ratios even. We don’t have an official ratio, but we aren’t afraid to add one if the number of females blows through the roof. Let’s be honest here. Having a roleplay without a little beef around isn’t all that fun. Besides, there are tons upon tons of attractive male face claims out there! III. We do not have a character limit. I believe that every single one of you know your limits. If you can’t name all of your characters off the top of your head, you obviously have too many. In order to combat character whoring (I admit, I’m guilty of this), each character must have five legitimate roleplay posts before creating another after your second. This means you have two free slots when you first join. [added June 22, 2013] IV. Celebrities and models only. That means no myspace/lookbook/online models or Youtube celebrities. A lot of them prefer to be left alone, anyways. Once you’re accepted, make sure you claim them, too. V. Upon registration, post in the correct board and use the correct form. It’s pretty self-explanatory. Any applications posted in the wrong forum will not be accepted. You have one week to complete applications in the “Work in Progress” board before it’s deleted. VI. Claim your claims. Claim your claims. Drill that into your noggin’! They’re first-come, first-serve. If you forget to claim Josh Hutcherson and someone else makes him, I’m afraid you’ve lost your hunk of a play-by. That’s one of the only required claims alongside the secret claim, but the others are encouraged! VII. Display names must be FIRST MIDDLE LAST, in caps. You join however you'd like, but you must get around to modifying your name eventually. IN CHARACTER IN CHARACTER IN CHARACTER IN CHARACTER IN CHARACTER I. Each post must be at least 300 words. I know that it’s a steep number, but it’s an average post length. The key to becoming a better writer is pushing yourself to write a little bit more and a little bit better than before. If you really have a problem with that, you can always do a couple mini threads, if you want. Whatever floats your boat! II. Anything your character does is fair game. The Snitch doesn’t play favorites III. Your characters must have a cell phone thread. Texting is one of the ways The Snitch reaches out to victims. This is mandatory. IV. The in-character cbox is a privilege. You must have an active thread going in order to use it. You must also be accepted. Basically, the same rules apply as in the out of character one. Have fun! V. Any major plots must be approved by an administrator. Plots like death, pregnancies, marriage, cancer, and scenarios that could potentially be life-changing must be talked among the staff. Normally we’ll get back to you within a couple days. VI. Please avoid favoring one member over another, especially in threading. In order to combat the uncomfortable favoritism that can be seen on some roleplay sites, the administrators at Backseat Serenade will enforce a policy of fairness in terms of plots and threading. This is a public forum, which means new members will constantly be joining our community, so it's important to include everyone! [added June 6, 2013] DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE Each case will be addressed accordingly. The first offense will usually be a warning. After the third, we'll have to ask you to leave, but I honestly doubt we'll have any problems. |
