Hello Serenaders,
For some of you, this announcement may be a complete shock to you; for others, what I’m about to say will probably confirm your fears. I’ve decided to close the site. My absence has certainly been noticeable, and I’m sure you’ve noticed Lam has disappeared, too. Closing the site has turned out to be the most practical decision, and I’m extremely sorry for those of you who have continued to post, plot, and create characters.
Why? That’s probably the million dollar question on your minds. First, let me just say I had considered other options pertaining to the site’s so-called “morality” before I came to the conclusion that shutting it down was best. Revamping had crossed my mind on multiple occasions, but the modifications I’d need to make would change the essence of Backseat Serenade. Lam’s life took a sharp turn toward crazy town, so her indefinite absence has also disheartened me to continue a site we created together.
I love every single one of you. All of you are talented writers, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know your characters. I’d absolutely hate for our time to end so soon. Rather than delivering this blow and heading for the hills, I thought I might end this hapless message with a beacon of light. It is true that my muse for this particular site has diminished, but that doesn’t mean my muse has been completely erased. More than likely, I’ll probably set up another site in the coming weeks that you can join, if you so wish to do so. Today I also learned Erin, Leah, and Pun are creating their own site, too. If you’re interested in becoming a member there, Leah said you’re more than welcome to PM or AIM (rawrraebear) her for the link. Zoe has also recently created a site. I guess my point can be summarized like this: just because the magic is ending here doesn’t mean the magic has to end completely. There are places to continue expanding your skills as a writer, maybe even with faces you know.
Wherever you end up, I’d just like to conclude by thanking every single one of you for being loyal, amazing members. There is no way Backseat Serenade would’ve made it seven months without your support. When Lam and I opened the site, our expectations were low. We opened the site, not expecting to grow so large. The plots, characters, and posts written on this site will be remembered fondly. And on that awkwardly cliché note, I think I’ll end this announcement here. Thanks again for being completely amazing members.

edit. In case you're worried about your posts, applications, and other materials, I'll switch the site to Member login only by the end of the week. You'll be able to collect any of your content as long as you have an account.
