DONOVAN 25 | HETEROSEXUAL | KINDERGARTEN TEACHER | LOCAL | ADAM BRODY THE INTERVIEW WELL, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? SIT DOWN. The twenty-five year old is practically shoved into the office, showing all signs of resistance to being here as he practically falls flat on his face. A rather ungraceful entrance for a pretty ungraceful human being. He laughs nervously as he recovers his balance by grabbing onto the desk but the sound of the woman's voice startles him and his arm spasms, knocking over a container of pencils. "Oh. Oops. Really sorry about that. Yeah, here." He quickly leans over and stuffs them all very messily back into the container and sits down in his seat before he can knock anything else over like.. oh... maybe her computer or something expensive and important like that. "Yep, there you are. Sat down now. Sorry again." Nervously he folds his hands in his lap, unfolds them, then rests him on his knees while his feet jig up and down. His anxiety levels are clearly pretty high but he does his best to stay focused without freaking out. "Uh... the name's Levi. Or Mr. Donovan. Or Levi Jayden Donovan." Chuckling nervously, he offers her a tight, anxious smile, suddenly wondering if he could make a break for it through the door without anyone catching him and shoving him back in here. WHAT, DO YOU NEVER HAVE A DATE? STOP STARING AT ME LIKE THAT. "Staring at you like what? I'm not even looking at you. Why are your panties in such a twist." Levi looks at her almost accusingly but then quickly looks anywhere but her because the sour look on her face makes him uncomfortable and nervous. "I mean... I could take you on a date if you wanted. But I don't think my girlfriend would like that very much. Don't think I would like that very much. Not that you aren't pretty or anything... but you're kind of mea- uhh... sassy?" He furrows his brows, confusing even himself with all the words that had just tumbled out of his mouth. Really he had a bad habit of just saying things without really thinking them over... but oh well. Anyway, what were they talking about again...? Oh yeah. Levi smiles some as he remembers. Love. Amour. Or something like that. He was never any good at French. "But yeah, my girlfriend. Brisbane. She's lovely. We have dates." He nods and starts rocking back and forth in his seat, looking at the walls and then the ceiling while biting the inside of his cheek. WHATEVER. WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU LOOK FOR IN OTHER PEOPLE? "Well okay then, sassy pants." Levi huffs, almost insulted by her bad temper. He wonders idly if she just went through a break up or maybe if it's her time of the month. Girls usually get pretty grumpy when it's around that time. He always felt awkward and uncertain around cranky girls. Or people in general. People in general weren't really his thing because his hyperactive and spazzy personality usually got on normal people's nerves. Whoops. "Uh... Usually I just look for people who are nice and can handle... well... hand all of this." He motions his hands around himself. It was true. He could only befriend other people who were okay with him and all his issues. Levi is aware that it can be quite a handful so he doesn't get too upset when people decide they don't want to hang out with him. But in all honesty, he doesn't even do well with other people. His social anxiety usually gets the best of him and he needs someone he's close to, like Bris, to help keep him from completely spazzing out and not being able to handle it. But it wasn't as if making friends was impossible for him. There were still quite a few people who could tolerate his 'all over the place' personality and actually found it entertaining. "There's not a lot who can. I can see you can't. You look irritate. I could probably leave if you wanted you know. This office is kind of small anyway. Should probably go right? No? Oh. Okay. Was worth a shot." HOW MISS AMERICA OF YOU. I SUPPOSE YOU VOLUNTEER EXCESSIVELY, TOO? A forced, nervous laugh passes through his lips as he shifts around in his seat, looking around for the fifth time to try and come up with some sort of an escape route. Levi didn't usually have any problem with sitting around, talking to the parents to his students because they were all generally nice people. This lady, however, was pretty intimidating and he didn't like this twenty questions game with her. Too personal. Not fun. "Miss America? That was a good one. I'm sure you charm everyone with that one. Very charming indeed." He purses his lips now, really pondering the question now. For fun he usually plays video games while at home, goes to the movies with Bris or some of his other friends, and things like that. For someone who has what could be considered to be severe social anxiety, he was pretty good at putting himself out there because he did enjoy going from place to place. Just speaking to new people put him off some. "I read comic books, play video games, go to the movies. Things like that. Sometimes we, Brisbane and I, go to parties with friends and all that good stuff. But not a lot since the club can't even handle me right now." He grins at her, clearly enjoying the little 'funny' he made, but he quickly slides down into his chair, embarrassed because she doesn't seem all that amused. He folds his hands on his chest and stares at them. "But yeah, I'm also a kindergarten teacher. I enjoy doing that because I like the kids. We get along well I think." Levi nods, still not looking at her as he quickly finishes. YOU ACTUALLY LIKE THAT STUFF? DARE I ASK YOU ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD? "Oh, you sure you really want to get into those boring details? I mean you hardly seem like the type of woman who would really want to know about any of that stuff. Just all around a boring story really." Levi shakes his head a handful of times because he isn't really that big of a fan of story time. Well, unless he was reading some five page book to a bunch of kids who were about ready to doze off anyway. But his own? Yeah, Levi was extremely uncomfortable when it came to explaining how he grew up in this small town with both of his parents and that even from a young age he had shown tendencies of just being a weird kid. He didn't make friends easily because he was too hyperactive and all over the place. The teachers were frustrated with him because he could never just sit down and listen. Not even for five minutes. His parents were frustrated as well. Even took to hitting him sometimes because their patience was just wearing so thin with him all the time because why didn't he listen? Honestly, Levi tried really hard, extremely hard to just be the good son they wanted, but he couldn't. No matter how hard he tried he just always needed to be moving or doing something or else he felt like he might just go insane. "Well, okay, if you really want to know I guess I'll go there. I was born here in Brunswick with my parents. They were still together. Still are together to this day. Lovely people really. But uh... I was a little different while growing up I guess. I know most kids are all random and running all over the place and things, but I was... ten times worse than that. My parents and teachers didn't understand this and just sort of assumed I was an extreme troublemaker of sorts. Eventually they found out I have ADHD so therein lay my problem." He nods some, smiling awkwardly while his hands knot together, still showing extreme signs of being uncomfortable. But anyway, his neighbor next door had noticed Levi and how he was. She was the mother of Levi's best friend, Brisbane, and had a niece of nephew or some extended relative that had ADHD and mentioned it to his parents, suggesting they take him to a doctor to just check. Low and behold, that was the problem. The reason why their son wouldn't sit still was because he couldn't sit still. They put him on some medication that was supposed to help him concentrate more and to help dull things down for him, but they didn't do much. Not really. But he was still on them to this day. "But yeah, they gave me some 'magic pills' that didn't help any. School didn't change. I was still the weird kid that nearly everyone hated except for maybe the drama geeks. High school wasn't a fun time for me, but when is it ever for anyone? Just picked on all the time and yeah. People didn't like me. Couldn't handle me just like I couldn't handle them. Damn social anxiety." There went weeks during high school where Levi would just refuse to leave his room because he couldn't deal with the kids there at the school, just constantly tormenting him and poking fun at all his anxieties until the point he just exploded and needed to leave. Needed to breathe. He would hole himself up in his room and just not come out until his episode was over and he deemed it time to try and face the world again. Yeah, needless to say, high school wasn't a pleasant adventure for him but he somehow made it through that part of hell. "Then I went off to college, learned to be a teacher and yeah. Now I'm teaching little kindergarten kids because I almost feel like I can relate to them. We're a handful, sure, but we get along most of the time and are actually productive. Surprising, I know." Not very many thought that Levi could ever be a successful teacher, but he was good with kids and they seemed to like him, so everything worked out in the end because he adored his job and all the kids and even some of their parents. THAT'S IT? NO SKELETONS IN YOUR CLOSET OR ANYTHING? He clams up almost instantly. He had been quite the chatterbox through the whole interview but now he refuses to speak. Nope. Not going to go there. "Nah. My parents used to get frustrated with me and smacked me around a bit, but not too hard. That's about it." But it wasn't. During his episodes that left him chained to his room for weeks, Levi had nearly ended his life completely. He had come so close to doing it because he was so sad all the time even though he kept smiling. Everyone just hated him because he couldn't control himself and was weird or whatever. His depression had reached the lowest of all lows at that point and he was so close to the edge. But her voice, Brisbane's, at the door had pulled him from doing something incredibly stupid. Normally he didn't let anyone in when he was going through a phase, but he let her in and there you have it. The reason why he didn't kill himself and the reason why he ended up attending therapy sessions to try and reel himself back in some. EH, I'VE HEARD WORSE. IS IT GOING TO INTERFERE WITH YOUR TIME IN BRUNSWICK? He shrugs, suddenly tired from all the questions. He really just wants to go home and nap on the couch for a while because all these questions have really sucked the life out of him, which was usually a hard mission to accomplish. "Don't know. Maybe travel some, propose to my girlfriend, have kids. Just regular things." He shrugs again, slumping back in his chair finally. IF ALL ELSE FAILS, I'M SURE YOU HAVE A RELATIVE'S BASEMENT YOU CAN LIVE IN. "Nope. Don't think my parents would want me back in their house. I mean, they love me and all, but eighteen years of living with this kind of mayhem deserves a permanent vacation." ALRIGHT. THAT'S IT. SHUT THE DOOR ON YOUR WAY OUT, WON'T YOU? He quickly shoots up from his chair, nearly knocking it over but he steadies it and nods briefly. "Alright. Nice talking to you then. Have a darling day." Levi shuffles out of the room but not before he stubs his toe on the corner of her desk, making an ungraceful exit to match his ungraceful entrance.
