ALDRIDGE 16 | STRAIGHT | UNDECIDED | HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT | MAIA MITCHELL PERSONALITY PLAYFUL | EASY GOING | FRIENDLY | QUIET | GUARDED Brittany is truly an easy going and friendly person. If she tried hard enough, she could probably make friends anywhere she goes. She is a Miami girl, happiest in the warm weather. Back at her old home, if she wasn't with Cameron, you could probably find her out by the beach, soaking up the sun. Now that she's in Brunswick, she's slowly getting to know the place, but once shes comfortable with it, she will probably have a couple of hangout spots. After moving, it was a bit difficult to recognize Brittany, but she's slowly recovering and becoming who she was before the move happened. Brittany is a very loyal friend once she trusts you, she will defend her friends, whether or not she thinks they're right. With her, once she trusts you enough to be her friend, she expects the same kind of loyalty from her friends. She's not one to put up with backstabbing friends and if she even slightly suspects that you're betraying her to someone else, she will slowly extract herself from that friendship and go to find someone else. She won't deal with anyone if they don't have good intentions. Which makes her seem snobby because she is picky about who she's friends with, but only cause she doesn't want to be friends with someone she can't trust. She's a playful person, once you get to know her. She's up for almost anything as long as it doesn't challenge the good girl nature she was raised with. She's not afraid of getting dirty to have a little fun and sometimes she's even the first to jump right in. She's not afraid of rollercoaster or anything with a bit of a fear factor. She kinda likes the thrill of doing something dangerous. So don't be afraid to suggest anything completely out of the box with her, cause you might be surprised by her answer. Despite Brittany's friendly and playful exterior, she's easily the kind of girl that keeps everything locked away when it hurts. If you catch Brittany singing, you should realize how rare it is. Ever since leaving Miami, she doesn't sing and she only listens to music when she is really upset or really happy. Mainly because music was something she relates to Cameron. Like so many other things, she keeps her secrets closer to her heart and does her best to make sure no one can ever find out and treat her differently. As long as you don't pry too deep, you should get along with her just fine. HISTORY meeting Cameron | Dating Cameron | Moving to Brunswick Helena Ainsley Black met Ethan Brent Aldridge, the movie director, during a girls trip to Vegas. They were brought together in a bar, too drunk to care who the other person was. It was a simple one night stand, nothing more vital than the other persons need to have another body pressed up against their own. And that night, Brittany was conceived. Upon finding out that she was pregnant with his child, she made contact with him, realized who he really was, and decided never to tell her child. However, he set up a bank account for the child, under the condition that she would hold his last name and that when the time was right, she would tell the child who her father really was. Helena took the money and moved to Miami, Florida. Once there, she made herself a life and vowed to be the best mother she could be. Four months later, Brittany Elizabeth Aldridge was born. Ethan came to see the child once before dissapearing out of her life. Helena raised Brittany on her own, pouring herself into raising a daughter that she could be proud of. As a child, Brittany was always curious, getting herself into messes simply because she had a desire to know things and find out the truth behind things. Still, no matter how often she got in trouble, she was always looking for the things she didn't know. Helena was a patient mom. And because it was just the two of them, Brittany and her mom were always close. Helena was a stay at home mom, relying on the money from Brittany's father to raise her. They were both sad when it came time for Brittany to go to school. Brittany was only sad for a little bit because several good things happened when she went to school. One of them was school made her quest for knowledge something she didn't get in trouble for. But the other, and somewhat more life changing event, was that she met Cameron. The blond haired, blue eyed little boy was someone she immeadiately took a liking to. They got along so well and it wasn't long before they declared themselves as best friends. As time progressed, they became inseperable. Brittany had other friends, but the most prominent one was always Cameron. They had almost everything in common but they discovered their love for music together. By the end of first grade, Brittany and Cameron had plans to become musicians together. That they'd have their own band and get famous together. If only Brittany had known her own heritage, she would have realized that fame was simply a phone call away. Brittany's quest for knowledge often made her the smartest kid in whatever she was doing, simply because she was determined to know as much as she could while she had to opportunity to. She never cared much for being the best in class, she just wanted to be the best that she could be. This just happened to have resulted in her being the best in her class, she passed every test with high marks and always turned her work in on time. She truly was a perfect student. As the story goes, if you're a perfect student, you probably lack in social skills. Brittany had quite a few friends, but only one or two close friends that she trusted ( and of course Cameron was one of them ) Whenever Brittany stayed the night at a friends house, it was because her mom was going out with guys. Even at that age, Brittany didn't approve. She didn't like the idea of some other guy coming in and stealing her mom away from her. Even when she met Alan, the guy her mother seemed to have fallen for, she had to force herself to like him. So, Brittany ignored her mothers new boyfriend and how close they were getting. Instead she allowed herself to be excited because of all the time she was spending with Cameron and a couple of her other friends. Over time, she found it easier and easier to accept her mothers relationship with Alan and she and her mother grew close once more. Once middle school came along, two things happened. The first being that her mom announced that she was going to marry the guy that she had been dating. The second being that she had her first kiss. But beofre We get too ahead of ourselves, let's get back to the drama with her mothers new fiance. Brittany had never really liked the thought of her mother with a different guy, but she accepted that she was happy with the guy. Which was fine, the real drama came when she overheard a conversation between the two of them. It simply wasn't something she could unhear. She was Ethan Aldridge's daughter. Her father hadn't been some guy that her mother met and had a summer romance with like her mother had always told her. She was the daughter of a movie director. Her mother had lied to her and that hurt more than anything. This hurt was enough to cause a drift between the two. Her mother and stepfather always just assumed it was them getting married and never pursued it. As she grew farther and farther from her mom, she grew closer and closer to Cameron. Even she knew she'd be a fool to deny that throughout her moms wedding, she pictured herself getting married. And when she pictured her husband, it was always Cameron. When she told Cameron about her father, he didn't treat her any differently, like she was scared of. He treated her differently, but not because of that. It seemed that he too was starting to have feelings for his best friend. One day, out of the blue, he kissed her, on the lips. And from that moment forward it seemed to be safe to assume that they were a couple. Instead of focusing herself too heavily on her heritage, she threw herself into her relationship with Cameron and her schoolwork. She had always trusted Cameron with her deepest darkest secrets as her best friend, but now he was more than that. It still felt the same, but when they parted ways there was kisses instead of hugs. Now that she was going out with Cameron, she didn't worry about telling her mom anything that was bugging her. Instead she just told Cameron. Her mom began to notice this and tried to patch together the close relationship that she had with her daughter. She tried everything from going to the movie to buying Brittany a dog, but no matter what, Brittany still resented her mom for not telling her who her father was. Brittany did however love her new dog, a purebred Ibizan Hound that she named Monroe. She pampered her dog and she was glad that him and Cameron got along. Having grown more reserved since dating Cameron, they were the only two she trusted anymore. Once high school came around, she started growing more social, hanging out around Cameron's friends. Still, The secret of just who she really was hovered over her head like a clown. She could only hope no one would find out. The last thing she wanted was for someone to know. She didn't want to be treated any differently. She went to parties, but never drank and she'd go out on dates with Cameron. She was a normal teenager, with a few close friends. No one would have any reason to suspect that she was anything special. Except for her musical ability. She may have been trying to fade into the background but with her voice, it made it hard. She had forgotten about all those plans she and Cameron had made as children, but she had never given up on music. By the time she got to high school, she could play the guitar and the piano, but she didn't think anything of it. Cameron too had a voice and really, they sounded great together. Everyone encouraged them to do something about it but the most they ever did was star in plays and sing together during the talent show. But they loved singing together when it was just them and they loved writing songs together. A local talent agent discovered them and they were given a gig at a few parties, singing together. It was great, Brittany loved it and she knew then more than ever that she wanted to be a singer when she was older. Even with the failing relationship between her and her mother, she was happy with the way her life turned out. With the way things with Cameron were going, she was able to picture her future and she was so excited. Until, halfways through her sophoomore year, her stepfather annouced that he got a job in Brunswick, Maine and that at the end of her school year, she would be moving with them. at first she didn't know how to react, so she denied it. she refused to think it was happening. and then she got mad and threw the whole " how could you do this to me " routine. Cameron was really upset too, no matter how much he encouraged her that they could keep up a long distance relationship and that he would visit often, Brittany could tell that he was upset. but he made up for it by taking her out everywhere. and as it grew close he would take her to their old haunts. it felt almost like old times, except Cameron always had the camera with him and was always taking pictures of her and of them together. It was clear that she would be leaving soon and all those pictures just made it more real. Nothing made it more real though, then their last date. Cameron took her to a secluded place on the beach, one of her favorite places to go with him. He brought a picnic and they ate and talked and watched the sun go down. She swore she wasn't going to cry but she couldn't help it when Cameron pulled out a scrapbook full of all the photos they had taken. It was the sweetest thing he had ever done for her. Which of course led to kissing, which led to making out, which led to more. That day, underneath the full moon, Brittany lost her virginity to the guy she loved more than life itself. For hours after that they just lay there in each others arms, trying not to focus on the fact that when the sun came up, Brittany would have to leave. Morning came way too fast and they were packing up their picnic and driving to Brittanys old home, where every last thing was packed. Their goodbye was a sad one, both of them still full of what they had done just hours ago. Brittany had to be forced into the car and Cameron watched her drive away, tears in his eyes. When they got to Brunswick, Brittany locked herself up in her room for days. Even after she had cried her heart out and finally left her room, she was despressed. nothing could really cheer her up. It took her almost a month before she finally seemed okay. Even then, she was changed. She could no longer be found singing and smiles were a rare sight. Most of all, she refused to talk about what happened that last night with Cameron. She kept that secret locked up in her heart, never letting it go. BEHIND THE MASK LEXI | 15 | PACIFIC | FRIEND REFERED ME | NONE I trailed my fingers across the spine, feeling each and every bump like a pang in my chest. This was really all I had left of Cameron. Sure, I had every stuffed animal, every gift he'd ever given me, but somehow they didn't add up to this scrapbook. Not only were there pictures from our last few months together, but from before that, all the way to the beginning. I hadn't opened it up since he gave it to me, scared that when I finally opened it, I would cry. I allowed myself to open it to a random page, I stared at the ceiling for a few more seconds before looking at the the page. It was towards the end, one of the more recent pictures. Cameron and I were standing together, arms wrapped around each other. Only our silhouettes could be seen with the sunrise behind us. I smile softly, easily able to remember that moment, staring into his soft blue eyes and thinking just how much I was going to miss him. Thinking about it, as much as I'd thought I was gonna miss him, it was nothing compared to how much I really missed him. " brittany? " My stepfather called from the other room. I sighed. When Cameron was there, I could get away from all this and I spent more time with him than I did at home. Now I was forced to face it, all of the drama I'd avoided for so long. I closed the book, grabbed my phone and went out to see what my step father and mother wanted. I found them in the living room, sitting on the couch, surround by boxes, both of them looking at me expectantly. Wordlessly, my mom put a couple of things into my hands and looked away. I opened my hands and looked at what she had placed in them and immeadiately I felt tears springing into my eyes. In my hands was a necklace, the first one that Cameron had ever given me. I had searched for it from the second we got home and assumed that we had forgotten. Having it in my hands was just another reminder of what I'd lost that day. I closed my hand around the necklace and turned to go back to my room. Once there I threw myself on my bed, hugging the closest pillow I could find. My hand was still closed tightly around the necklace. After a few minutes of crying, I finally sat up and put the necklace on, vowing to never again take it off. The weight of it on my chest was comforting and with it there I almost felt as though Cameron was there with me. I looked at my phone, remembering how many times he had called and texted me since I'd left. When I refused to answer any of them, he stopped calling and texting. Sometimes it hurt, but sometimes it felt like he was giving me a chance to move on. The throb in my heart, the one I always felt when I thought about him, was there. But for once I felt as though it was normal to miss him and that it was okay to hold onto him and cry over him. I loved him, more than life itself. Suddenly I felt selfish. Surely, this seperation hurt him as much as it hurt me. For the first time since getting here, I opened up my text messages from him. As I read them, Ismiled. He really loved me. I breathed in carefully and began to type. "Cameron, I love you too. I miss you so much. I'm sorry I haven't texted you back. " Cameron's reply came faster than I expected. " Hey Brit, it's okay. I love you and miss you too. " |
