HUDSON 21| BISEXUAL | STRIPPER | TOWNFOLK | KALEY CUOCO JULY 17TH TWENTY ZERO EIGHT – SILVERTHORNE, COLORADO Two women sit on a couch in what looks like a living room that has recently been robbed, there are things all over the floor, the television is on but muted, spreading a soft light over the faces of the two women, one showing a caring expression while looking toward the other who has tears rolling down her face, she is trying her best to hold back the tears but they just keep on coming, she lets out a few sobs before she attempts to speak. ”I don’t know what happened – she just left, no ex-explanat-tion.” She lifted a tissue to her nose and wiped it then tossing it to the side and grabbing another to dab at her eyes. The other woman out an arm around the sobbing one, pulling her closer, causing her head of the upset woman to rest on the chest of the other. ”I’m sure it’s nothing you did, I’m sure she’ll come back Maggie. You won’t be alone for long.” She spoke with a reassuring tone in her voice in an attempt to calm her friend. It was clear that the two were close, it was three in the morning, Maggie had woken up to the sound of the front door slamming, she was confused at first and she had investigated and found a note left by her only daughter, Angela. As she had read it she had burst into tears and had instantly called her friend. ”Bette, I-I just don’t understand.” She sobbed again. Tonight was the night that she had been abandoned by her daughter, the only one of her children that she had faith in, that was now lost. She buried her head in Bette’s shoulder, wrapping her arms around her neck. JULY 18TH TWENTY ZERO EIGHT – DENVER, COLORADO A young female figure darted between cars. It was clear that she was nervous as she looked around, worry on her face. It seemed that she wasn’t sure what she was doing or where she was going. Her eyes fixed on a jewelry store across the street from where she was crouched behind a black Camry. After a quick look left and then right she made a dash for the cover of a red car opposite where she was. She didn’t make it all the way across the street before there was a screech of tires and the sound of a body colliding with metal and then with bitumen. A figure emerged from the suddenly stopped vehicle and quickly rushed to her side, the man was clearly worried as he checked her vital signs before pulling his cell out of his jacket pocket and dialing the emergency services. Within ten minutes there was an ambulance on the scene and the female was strapped into the gurney and was being rushed to the hospital. JULY 30TH TWENTY ZERO EIGHT – DENVER, COLORADO The teenage girl screwed her face up at the poor excuse for food that was placed in front of her, it had been almost two weeks since that car had hit her and just over a week since she had escaped the hospital that was holding her. They hadn’t managed to find out who she was and call her mother, the woman was still too close for her liking, not that she disliked her because that woman meant everything to her. She was worried about her safety, this one was into some dangerous stuff and she didn’t want her mother to get caught up in it. She winced in pain as she brought a spoon to her lips, two of her ribs were broken and she had a small fracture in her wrist. It was surprising that she hadn’t been more hurt, the doctors were baffled and she was quite thankful for it. She would have been ruined if she had been unable to move around freely for too long, sure she had been bedridden for a few days but now she was able to go about her day without much of a hindrance. ”Angie, I need you to go with Trent for tomorrow’s deal.” A stern voice said, the blonde lifted her head and gave the man a nod, he was almost twice as tall as her and definitely twice as thick. An irritated voice spoke somewhat in reply to the large man’s words. ”Don, I don’t want her, she’ll only slow me down.” Angie was quick to get to her feet in her defense, ”no, I swear I won’t.” Her voice was full of innocence, it was clear that she was new to this sort of work. ”Sweetie, we know you’re only here because you owe Vinnie. We don’t need you.” The comment hit her hard, she didn’t want to be that girl and it could be seen in her reaction to the comment, despite her injuries she was quick to cross the distance between her and the one called Trent, he was took by surprise as she grabbed his shirt at the collar and stared into his face with a serious look on her face, ”I won’t get in the way.” Her grip wasn’t very tight and with one quick action she was throw from him and her body hit the nearby wall with a thud. Her body fell to the ground as she yelped in pain. ”Don’t ever touch me again.” Trent said while taking a step toward her and spitting down at her as she writhed in pain, her hand clutching her side. ”She’s got spirit, I’ll give her that.” Trent said with a chuckle as he left the room. JANUARY 3RD TWENTY ZERO NINE – JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI A black car slowly made it’s way into the abandoned parking lot, stopping somewhere in the middle. Two figures got out, both dressed in black; one, a male, holding a duffle bag and the other, a female, carefully concealing a gun in her belt with her long coat. She looked far too young to be sporting such a thing, in fact she was only sixteen and had been doing this sort of thing for a few months before now, this was her first big deal. Big also meant dangerous, it was something of a test as the boss wanted to be sure that he could count on her to get the deal done no matter what and she was determined to prove herself to him. It wasn’t long before a second car joined them, stopping at the edge of the parking lot, three people getting out, one of them was quite small, a child younger than ten. The blonde’s eyes widened at the sight of a gun to the boy’s head and she let out a gasp, quickly covering her mouth with her hands. ”The money or the boy dies.” The man without the gun said, waving a hand toward the boy and the other man. Trent stepped forward, a stern and serious look on his face, which wasn’t strange as he always wore that look. ”No.” He said bluntly, ”that boy has nothing to do with this.” A laugh came from the other men, both of them before the spokesman spoke again. ”We have altered the deal, we get the money and this boy lives. That is it.” A smirk came to the man’s lips as he looked Trent in the face, waiting for a reaction. As this was going on Angie was standing back next to the car, a worried look on her face. Her eyes darted between the boy and Trent, she wanted nothing more than for this to go down without any casualties, though it would be even better if she was able to get the drugs as well. But it didn’t seem like that was going to happen so she had to settle for the next best thing. ”Trent, give them the bag.” She said in something of a loud whisper. ”Not without the merchandise.” He said with that stern voice of his. Since their first meeting he had changed his opinion of the blonde, she had proven that she was a valuable asset to this business, she was able to look after herself and those around her and it was clear that it was something she was going to out her all into. ”Give them the fucking bag, we’re not letting that boy die.” She said, urgency in her voice, her caring side was showing itself, there was no way that she was going to let that boy die. The sound of the gun being cocked could be heard in the silence and she quickly jumped into action, though it was a stupid move really. ”Stop!” She yelled across the parking lot, throwing her arms in the air as the man that had appeared to be unarmed suddenly pulled a gun out and pointed it at her. ”He doesn’t need to die.” She spoke with a somewhat calmed voice considering the situation, though as she did so she slowly moved her arm down and her hand fell onto the gun that she had hidden beneath her coat. ”Angie, what are you doing?” Trent asked, concern in his voice. ”Whatever you’re doing, stop.” He said again, his eyes darting between her and the men opposite them. She shook her head and pulled the gun out in one quick motion, letting off a shot in the direction of the men, hoping that she hit one of them and not the boy. Somehow she had managed to shoot the man who had the gun held to the boy’s head, he fell to the ground while clutching his shoulder. As she realized what it was that she had done she fell to the ground, somewhat in shock. Trent sprung into action and jumped in front of her to protect her and to get a better shot at the other man, who was now retreating to the car, yelling at the wounded one to get in too. Trent put an arm around Angie and began to lead her back to their car as the others sped away; this obviously wasn’t how they had planned on it going down. ”No, no. The boy.” She said between breaths, she was a little shaky and could hardly walk, Trent was doing a fine job at keeping her upright as he put her in the car. ”Angie, we can’t.” He said while putting the seatbelt around her. ”We have to. I’ll never let you forget it if you leave him.” She looked at him with a stern expression, almost mirroring the one he was giving her. He let out a sigh and ran to the boy, picking him up and putting him in the back of the car and sped off, taking the three of them home. DECEMBER 25TH TWENTY TEN – JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI There was a cheerful feeling in the air; five people were crowded around a pile of wrapped presents, smiles on all their faces. The youngest, a boy of nine, tore open his first present, his eyes widening and his mouth letting out a gasp as he same the game console that was now in his hands. ”Oh my god Angie, thank you.” He exclaimed as he put it to the side and tackled the blonde with a tight hug. ”I know you wanted one sweetie, I made a promise to look after you and I’m going to do just that.” She said, ruffling his hair with her free hand just before a sixth person joined the room. All faces turned to him and Angie was quickly on her feet, ”what the fuck Vinnie?” She said as she rushed to him and began to look over the wounds that he had on his arm and torso. ”Get in here.” She ordered, pushing the man into the bathroom. ”Take it off.” She said as she rummaged through the cabinet, taking out bandages, a needle, some thread and a bottle of disinfectant. ”What the hell were you doing, it’s Christmas.” She scolded as she began to tend to his wounds. ”You know I worry, Tommy does too and that boy’s been through enough, he doesn’t need to worry about you all the time.” Vinnie didn’t answer, he was too busy trying to not show how much it hurt to have his girlfriend picking at his wounds. They were both silent until he was all stitched up, Angie put everything back in the cabinet before planting a kiss on the man’s lips. ”Now, you need to get out there and have a nice Christmas with the family.” AUGUST 27TH TWENTY ELEVEN – JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI The sound of a gunshot was heard echoing through the streets followed by a scream and the bang of someone bursting through the back doors of a restaurant into an alleyway. The last sound was quickly followed by another exactly the same and another gunshot was heard before a figure darted around the corner and disappeared into the night. twenty minutes later at the residence of vinnie and angie Sobbing could be heard from the bedroom, inside a blonde female had her knees up at her chest, her arms around her knees and her head resting face down on top of the knees, her hair was hanging around them. ”He’s dead. It’s my fault.” She said, somehow getting all the words out without a sob interrupting it. A man, Vinnie, was sitting next to her with his hand on her back, a look of horror on his face. ”Vinnie, I can’t do this anymore.” She stated, lifting her head up to look at him, her eyes wet and red from crying. ”What do you mean?” He said, lifting his hand from her back and running it through his hair. Angie shook her head slowly, ”I mean I’m taking Tommy and leaving this life behind.” She let her head drop slowly back to her knees, though letting it rest on the side this time, looking up at her boyfriend. He had nothing to say, he didn’t know what to say and it could be seen on his face, the shocked expression that he had didn’t leave for the next minute, neither of them made a sound, they both knew what it meant. Vinnie couldn’t just pack up and leave like she could, he was something of a leader in their line of work, thought what that was no-one was really sure of, not even the people involved, but she could leave whenever she wanted, even if Vinnie didn’t want her to, he loved her too much to force her to do anything she didn’t want to, if she wanted to leave then she was going to leave. After the minute he stood up and left the room, the bathroom door was heard close and Angie rolled over to her side, her arms still around her legs. FEBRUARY 19TH TWENTY TWELVE – BRUNSWICK, MAINE Two figures were sitting on a bench overlooking the river. The older one, a blonde woman sighed and then spoke, ”do you ever miss it?” She asked, looking down to the other. ”Nope.” He said simply, tossing a rock into the water, he had a small pile sitting next to him. ”I know you miss it.” He said with a smile, they both knew exactly what he meant. ”I don’t miss it, I miss him.” She said, a small frown covering the smile that she was wearing not a few moments before. ”I hope he’s doing alright.” She sighed and got up off the bench, ”come on, let’s get you to school.” Tommy frowned and then followed Angie to the car, getting in. The car drove off, Tommy going to his new life as a normal school student and Angie going to their home to rest. APRIL 16TH TWENTY THIRTEEN – BRUNSWICK, MAINE Yelling, that was all that could be heard from the bedroom. A young teen was sitting on the couch, listening although he should have been. "What are you doing here? I told you we were leaving and never going back to that life." Angie's voice travelled through the door and walls with ease, she was loud when she was mad and she was very mad at the moment. Vinnie had decided to visit, asking her to help him with one job. "It's just the one job babe." Vinnie said, he wasn't yelling but his voice was raised. "Don't call me that." This time her voice was lowered, but it was still loud enough to be heard in the living room. "You know I don't want anything to do with that crap any more." There was exasperation in her voice, she had made it clear to him when she had left that she wanted no part in their business any more, she just wanted a normal life, whatever that was. "It's just one job, all you have to do is be there for backup, in case something goes wrong, and nothing will" There was silence for about a minute, no noise was heard from the room, nothing at all. Until the door opened and out walked Angie, her eyes fell onto Tommy and he knew exactly what he was supposed to do, leave so she could talk to Vinnie without him hearing anything more that what she knew he already had. Once she was sure that he was out of earshot she turned to the man that held her heart and spoke. "Fine." She let out a sigh, "just this one. But you have to promise you won't do this again. I mean it, I'm done, I like my life now." He eyed him with a look of seriousness. "I promise." The words were barely out of his mouth before she left the room. APRIL 20TH TWENTY THIRTEEN – BRUNSWICK, MAINE "You have to be kidding? There's no way you're hitting that." Angie had a look on her face that was a mixture of horror and curiosity as she stared at the hospital. "What the fuck could you possibly want from there?" She asked, turning her head to Vinnie, her right hand firmly wrapped around a handgun. Vinnie shook his head, "don't worry about it, you're here as backup remember." She gave him a stern look coupled with a stern tone. "You're fucking serious, you're hitting a hospital and you're not even telling me why?" She was about ready to leave, this job was something that she was now realising that she didn't want a part in. "Yes." That was it, in that small moment when Vinnie had confirmed her suspicions of the job she decided that as soon as the car was stopped she was going to walk away, she wasn't going to be a part of this. The blonde was somewhat surprised when the car stopped in the parking lot of the hospital and everyone got out, including her. There was another car parked not too far away that three men got out of, it was reminding her of that first serious job that she had done, with Trent. He was dead now. What she saw next gave her chills, it was him, that man that she had killed a few years back, the reason that she had run away from this life and attempted to settle in Brunswick. Trent. Her eyes widened as his eyes lay on her, a frightening grin playing on his lips. She was frozen, this was how seeing a ghost must feel. Her eyes darted from him to Vinnie, who was now stepping toward him. "Good work." Trent said to Vinnie, handing him a bundle of cash. She couldn't believe it, not that she was sure as to what was going on. Vinnie and the others that had brought her to the parking lot quickly got back into the car as sped off, leaving her there. It wasn't like she hadn't tried to get in too, she was pushed to the side and knocked to the ground. She was alone now, unsure of what was going to happen now, it was then that she realised that she still had her gun. In one quick motion she brought it out and aimed it at the man that she had thought dead years ago, she pulled the trigger but she had missed. She was out of practice and it showed. In an instant she was on her feet and was running for the hospital, she knew that she'd be safe there. But she didn't make it, a searing pain was radiating from her shoulder and she fell forward, the force from the bullet causing her to lose her balance. She felt the ground tear into her face and arms as she hit it, her gun falling from her hand at the moment of impact. For a few seconds she lay there, unable to make herself move, the sound of another gunshot was heard and she winced, but the shot wasn't for her. In that moment she was able to roll herself over and witness two of Trent's men fall to the ground right before she felt herself being pulled to her feet and held in something of an awkward position. "Double crossing me Vinnie. Bad idea." Trent said while holding the blonde up with his gun to her head. She whimpered a little as the man squeezed her injured shoulder before he threw her to the ground. Vinnie took that moment to shoot the man, he dropped to the ground, finally dead. Angie was unconscious, when she had been thrown to the ground her head had collided with the hard ground, knocking her out. Within the next moment she was in Vinnie's arms and he was rushing her into the hospital. APRIL 21ST TWENTY THIRTEEN – BRUNSWICK, MAINE She woke with a start, the last thing she remembered was having a gun to her head and then the felling of falling. She looked around the room, confusion masking her face, she was alone, there was no-one by her side. Her eyes fell on the basket sitting on the little table that was next to her, after slowly sitting up the blonde reached over to it and brought it over to her, setting it on her legs so she could look through it. There wasn't much more than flowers and a few cards inside, she was about to put it back on the table but she saw an envelope that had been underneath it on the table. Her curiosity got the better of her and she opened it, finding a short letter inside, addressed to her. As she read it tears rolled down her cheeks. As soon as she had finished reading it she scrunched it up into a ball and tossed it across the room, her eyes filled with tears that had nothing to do with the pain that she was suddenly feeling from her shoulder.
