REED SEVENTEEN | HETEROSEXUAL | LIFEGUARD VOLUNTEER | HIGH SCHOOL | INDIANA EVANS THE INTERVIEW WELL, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? SIT DOWN. Hannah walks in, glancing around the place. She's a little tense, obviously not okay with the thought of being left alone in this small office with a complete stranger. She snorts and looks at the interview with a bit of disbelief. "Excuse me? Who peed in your Cheerios this morning?" The blonde's Australian accent is thick on her words as she speaks and annoyance is evident in her tone. She rolls her eyes but decides to be somewhat pleasant and sits down in the appointed seat. She sits back in the seat in a lazy sort of manner, not really caring what this person thinks of her because she's not really trying to impress anyone right now. "Oh, so you want to know my name now?" She rolls her eyes again while suddenly taking an interest in her chipping nail polish. "I'm Hannah Lynette Reed aka your worst nightmare." An amused grin curls on her lips as she looks up from her nails. The interviewer is clearly not impressed but Hannah is feeling pretty damn amused with herself. WHAT, DO YOU NEVER HAVE A DATE? STOP STARING AT ME LIKE THAT. Scoffing once again, Hannah does a bit of a hair flip and crosses her legs. As a matter of fact, she did have a date tonight. It wasn't one she was necessarily looking forward to because her boyfriend was a dick and was godawful when it came to being romantic, but she dated him anyway. Why? Because she as an idiot and settled for whatever guy was willing to give her some sort of attention. This typically made her look like some sort of a slut, but in reality Hannah has never slept with anyone before. She was a little too scared for that. She could talk a big game but she became pretty skittish when it came to guys trying to take her clothes off. "Ha, you're funny. Perhaps you should drop a couple pounds and rethink your choice in eye shadow and then we'll talk." Her face turns expressionless, a bit of irritation hiding in her ocean blue eyes. "And I'm pretty sure I get more action than you do, so shut the fuck up and get to the part where you ask actual questions yeah?" Shifting slightly in her seat, she's already growing impatient with this interview and really just wants it to be over. WHATEVER. WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU LOOK FOR IN OTHER PEOPLE? "What kind of question is that?" What kind of qualities did she look for in other people? Well, nothing in particular really. Hannah wasn't necessarily a picky person when it came to choosing friends. All she really cared about was having people who paid attention to her because at home there was like a cloud of invisibility that followed her around all over the place. She tended to hang around kids that were up to no good. The ones that go to parties, drink, do drugs, and have sex. She doesn't really have any standards in that sense because she's pretty open to talking to anyone. She has a lot of friends in low places, but she does get along with the nicer kids as well. Some of the time anyway, when she wasn't being a complete bitch to everyone. But for the most part she sticks with what you would consider to be the 'popular' crowd. Aka the jocks and cheerleaders. "I like people who know how to fun and can handle the kind of bitch I am." A short response but this woman was not worthy of anything more. She was already pissing her off and she didn't see the need to give more away than what was necessary. Benny would be sure to give her hell if she got hauled out of this place for throwing a lamp at the woman's head. Which, now that she thought about it, was a tempting idea. HOW MISS AMERICA OF YOU. I SUPPOSE YOU VOLUNTEER EXCESSIVELY, TOO? Surprisingly enough, that wasn't too far off even though she wasn't exactly 'Miss America'. For her summer job she was a volunteer lifeguard both at the lake and the public pool around town. Sometimes she even went out of her way to volunteer at the pet shelter, but the majority of her time was spent doing less honorable thing. "Yeah, I do actually. I'm a lifeguard by day and pet shelter volunteer by night." She snorts as if to downplay her kindness because she knows that's not who she is. Well, not all of what she was. Hannah did have her kinder moments where she actually liked to help people, but for the most part she spent a lot of her time out partying and getting drunk. Why not? She enjoyed the attention she got from it. People thought she was a blast and it only helped boost her up on the popularity ladder. Wasn't as if her parents ever really caught her anyway. She made sure that she was sober enough to sneak her way back in through her window. Luckily she was like one of those spoiled rich kids who had a balcony so she could scale up the side of the house and climb on that. She nearly fell off once, but since she had heightened reflexes thanks to her years of surfing, cheerleading, and playing soccer she was pretty strong and flexible. Though her muscles and nerves were pretty dulled while under the influence. "I'm a pretty active person. Not your typical teenager who stays inside all day and sits on their computer or on their phone. I actually like to be outside stretching my muscles." Hannah pauses, almost surprised with herself for saying so much and in a pleasant tone. Apparently she was pleasant when it came to speaking about things she actually enjoyed doing, which was being outside enjoying the fresh air. Most of the time she just stayed out of the house for as long as possible. Her parents even had to call around looking for her a few times because she'd fallen asleep on the beach or in her favorite tree out in their backyard. Yeah, needless to say, Hannah enjoyed being anywhere that wasn't inside her house. They were always trying to get her to settle down and to stop being such a 'troublemaker' but it was the only way she could get their attention so she kept doing it. Keeping good grades was never really her thing either. Hannah could be pretty smart if she spent the time in studying that she needed to, but she didn't. She spent most of her time partying, swimming, of causing all kinds of grief for her family. YOU ACTUALLY LIKE THAT STUFF? DARE I ASK YOU ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD? "Yeah, I actually do like that stuff." She rolls her eyes yet again, probably for the fifteenth time since she walked into this little interviewing office. She can hardly help it though. Hannah has no control over her attitude which usually tends to get her into some trouble. Well... probably a lot of trouble but she'd probably try to tell you otherwise. "Why would you ever want to know about my childhood? What is this interview even for anyway?" She grows mildly uncomfortable as the questions dig a little deeper into her past. Hannah is fully aware that she's a problematic child, but she wasn't always that way. When she was living in Australia she was a pretty tolerable kid. She spent most of her time out splashing in the shallow end in the ocean or looking at bugs and reptiles with her brother. She'd been happy then and was always happen when they flew back to what she still considered to be her home. "Well, as I'm sure you've noticed, I'm Australian, but I only lived there until I was about five. Then we moved to Brunswick." She excludes the reason why they left because even she wasn't too sure why. That had always confused her. Why would they leave Australia for this shit hole? Honestly, it never made any sense to her and it was about a year after they moved that she started showing signs of being a problematic child. Christopher though... he took like a fish to water and became the perfect son and a star athlete. He'd always liked sports but moving here to Maine opened so many doors for him. Chris played it all. Football, soccer, lacrosse, but his main sport was baseball. That's where he really shined and her parents backed him all the way. But what about her? What about Hannah? She was just tossed to the side and scolded when she tried to demand attention from her mother and father. The only thing she seemed to be good at was causing problems so she embraced it. That, and her love for swimming, cheerleading, and soccer. Well, she didn't really like the last two but she took them up in high school in order to be noticed and accepted into the popular group of kids. And she was good at sports. It was in her blood. Hannah excelled in all the sports she played but never really told her parents about when her games were because they were always going to Chris' games and even practices. She was unimportant so she didn't even try with them anymore. Instead she just sort of got into trouble with her teachers but still maintained good grades to stay on the sports teams. There'd been plenty of phone calls home and even detentions because she couldn't keep her mouth shut and attitude off. "I'm alright in school I guess. Pretty popular because I'm on the swim, soccer, and cheer team." She shrugged, flipping some hair over her shoulder as if it were no big deal. There was no doubt that her parents' lack of interest in her geared her towards the boy population of the town. They gave her some kind of attention and she liked it. So she turned into a flirt and the ultimate tease because though she was more than willing to make out with some strangers, she never really let them in her pants. But if she were to be honest, Hannah doesn't really like having the guys talk to her because they think she's easy. She doesn't want to be seen as a slut, but it's the only way she feels like people care about her so she continues to do it. Sometimes she'll have low moments where she'll feel ashamed, but if you call her out on it, you'll have a lot of bitching and denial to deal with. Or she'll just throw it in your face like, yes, she is a slut and she's proud of it. But she's not. She'd really just like someone to genuinely care about her instead of pretending just because she's hot. "I'm going into my senior year and I guess I plan on going to college next year but I don't know." She didn't know because she wasn't sure if there was anything she was particularly good at that she could major in. The only reason Hannah had thought about going to college was because of the boys and freedom that came with it. Oh, and the parties. Hannah was always down for parties because part of her was waiting for her parents to catch her under the influence. Sometimes bad attention was better than no attention at all, and Hannah is the kind of girl who's willing to take what she can get. THAT'S IT? NO SKELETONS IN YOUR CLOSET OR ANYTHING? "My secret? What makes you think you have the right to know that?" Her eyes turn an intense shade of blue the way the do whenever she's feeling particularly angry or threatened. Her choice in words had been poor, therefore giving away that she did in fact have a secret. A few years ago she and her family had to move into a new house in Brunswick because the other one burned down. Well... that had been her fault. She'd come home drunk one night and climbed in through her window. Everyone in the house was sleeping and she was hanging on the edge of unconsciousness herself, but she'd decided to light up a blunt that a friend had given her. Now, Hannah hadn't been much of a smoker back then but her friends had been telling her to try it out so she decided why not. It was supposed to make her feel good so she did it. Hannah lit it up, smoked about three puffs of it before passing out. The blunt slipped from her fingers and over the side of the bed. Didn't take long for the curtains to burst up in flames and then the rest of the room fell apart as the dangerous flames started engulfing everything in sight. It was her brother who busted in the room to save her ass and hauled her outside and then went back inside to warn their parents. They'd been living in a small house then, so by the time the fire department reached the house, most of it was up in flames. Hannah had been pretty hungover then so she didn't ever feel remorse about it until later. She could have died had it not been for her brother and she felt like she was in debt to him, but honestly, there was no way for her to make up for it since he was always having to take care of her when she was in trouble because she obviously doesn't know how to take care of herself. "No, I don't have a secret." She shrugs, looking back to her chipped nail polish. EH, I'VE HEARD WORSE. IS IT GOING TO INTERFERE WITH YOUR TIME IN BRUNSWICK? "No, I just want to finish high school and then maybe travel to the other fucking side of the country." Hannah looks up at the ceiling, feeling very much like death because of how hot and dull this place is. Part of her wanted to stay here in Brunswick, but now because she was feeling sentimental. Only because she didn't know where a certain best friend of her brother's was going to end up. Honestly, other than that, she was more than ready to pack up her shit and leave. To go somewhere far away so she could experience things for herself and see the world. Right now she doesn't really know what she wants to do with her life, but she hopes to maybe find someone worth her time and someone that can help her fix herself. But she's still a teenager so she doesn't know how serious she wants her life to become yet. She's just sort of going with the flow while raining terror down on everyone that cares about her. IF ALL ELSE FAILS, I'M SURE YOU HAVE A RELATIVE'S BASEMENT YOU CAN LIVE IN. This question earns the interviewer a laugh and a shake of her head. "I doubt my parents would want me to live in their basement for the rest of my life." She runs a hand through her hair, knowing damn well that her parents were just as excited for her to leave as she was. They wouldn't have to deal with her bitching and complaining all day and she wouldn't have to go every single waking minute acting like she was some kind of a wall. However, her brother might take care of her if she ever needed it. He was always busy with his sports and now college, but she knew he loved her because he checked up on her, came to her games from time to time, and made sure to text her from time to time. Surprisingly enough, it was Christopher's best friend, Bennett who looked out for her the most. He was oddly possessive, always looming over her and he was starting to spend more time with her than he did with Chris. It was weird, but she didn't mind because she'd always had a bit of a crush on him. Out of everyone she knew, Hannah was pretty sure that Benny Boy would be the one to take care of her. "But my brother would probably lend me a hand." She decides to exclude mentioning Benny from this interview because she didn't want to give him that kind of satisfaction. He'd be picking her up in about five minutes and would probably be asking her questions about said interview, and she didn't want to have to lie when he asked her if she talked about him. ALRIGHT. THAT'S IT. SHUT THE DOOR ON YOUR WAY OUT, WON'T YOU? "No, shut your own damn door." The blonde grumbles as she gets up without hesitating. She doesn't look back or hesitate, just walks out the door with her phone in hand, shooting a message to her ride to make sure he was on his way.
