LOVELL 33 | HETEROSEXUAL | RESTAURANT OWNER | TOWNSFOLK | CHARLIE HUNNAM I. LINDSAY was his high school sweetheart; he thought they would be together forever. He was a dreamer and an idealist then and he still is now. She was smart, beautiful and charming. They met in sophomore year and had been inseparable up until senior year. Something had changed then, he didn’t know what but she started acting differently. She wasn’t the same sweet girl he had met when they were younger; she’d lost her cute baby face and instead caked her face with make-up. Her skirt rose higher and higher with each passing year and she didn’t seem to care who she hurt with her actions. Wasn’t he good enough for her? He was on the football team and still managed to get good grades but most importantly he was a good boyfriend. Cheating had never crossed his mind but that didn’t seem enough for Lindsay. It was at a party did he really see the monster she had turned into. He found her in bed with his best friend and the worst part? She didn’t even try and look sorry. II. STEPHANIE could have been the one. She was the first girl he truly believed he loved. She was pretty and blonde, she wasn’t like Lindsay. Nothing like her, she was someone he would’ve been proud to bring home to his parents. They had made plans for the future, he would own his own restaurant, be a world renowned chef and she would be a lawyer by day and mother by night. The future looked bright for them and as soon as they finished with college he proposed. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with this amazing woman and he thought he would. It was their wedding day, he was dressed up to the nines and his rugged long hair slicked back. He was beginning to get anxious as the minutes ticked past the time she was supposed to arrive. But it was her special day; she was allowed to be late. Only she was so late that she missed the entire wedding. He found a note in their apartment, she apologised for everything.. she just wasn’t ready to tie herself down when she wanted to do so much more. She had other plans, plans that didn’t include him. III. SIENNA is an enigma, there are not enough words or the right words to describe how much he loved this woman. She drove him crazy but he still loved her because they were meant for each other. It took him years to realise it but it’s true, there isn’t anyone who is more perfect for him than she is.. was. They had an on and off relationship for years, something always reared its ugly head and caused them to break up. They weren’t the likely of pairs; he was a well-respected guy whereas she was seen as lowly trash. She came from a family of adulterers and thieves but he saw past that and saw her for what she truly was despite all her flaws. It was why he married her, because despite her reputation he knew deep down she was a good person and that she loved him even for his flaws also. The wedding bliss didn’t last for long as they had trouble conceiving. It drove a wedge between them and Sienna all but lost it when her one chance of having baby ran away with her child. It was the breaking point for the two of them; there was no recovering from that. Then Naomi happened, he thought it was love but she had other motives. His second divorce led to him and Sienna rekindling their love, though it was by no easy means. Things were starting to look up for them, until her past caught up with her. She had never told him about her stint in jail but it had come back to haunt her and put her into incredible danger. Sienna broke things off between her and Joe to protect him but failed to tell him this all important reason. He assumes the worst and does the one thing he had never done before and ended up in bed with Janie. A few days later it comes to light just how much trouble Sienna is and Joe, attempting to fix things for them pays the gangsters off and all seems well until Sienna’s ex-cell mate ends up in hospital. Joe had never been a reckless man nor spontaneous but in that moment he knew Sienna was the one and he couldn’t face losing her again. He told her they would run away together and start a new life away from this mess. IV. NAOMI was the buffer, Joe was quite certain at the time it was love but now he’s positive she was just a placeholder. He was a man who was destined to be married and have kids and that white picket fence. Naomi seemed like she could be the woman he could share that with, she was stunning and charming. Everything he could’ve asked for in a woman, except she wasn’t feisty nor did she keep him on his toes like Sienna. They were a golden couple but it turned out all she ever wanted from him was his money, she never truly loved him only the lavish gifts her brought her and the clothes his money paid for. It took him until after they got married to realise this, when he caught her cheating. He was so blinded by his need to be with someone that he had ignored all the signs. V. JANIE was a mistake. She was never meant to happen; it was fit of anger mixed with a barrel full of alcohol. She was a one night stand when he thought things where over between him and Sienna. It was never supposed to go any further than that one night but then she had to get pregnant, when things were finally working with Sienna. He’s always been the responsible guy, the guy you could always rely on and it was that part of him that told him he couldn’t just leave. He couldn’t ignore them and run off and live happily ever after with Sienna. Sienna knew that too and that why she left without him, all because of Janie. He’s going to do the right thing and be there for his kid because that’s what he was brought up to do but a part of him resents them. They took away what could have been his fairy-tale ending with the woman he loved. BEHIND THE MASK ZOE | AGE | GMT | IT WAS DESTINY | JULIE MCGUIRE |
