PARKER THIRTY | HETEROSEXUAL| NAVY COMMANDER | TOURIST | ALEXANDER SKARSGARD THE INTERVIEW HELLO. THANKS FOR COMING IN TODAY. SHALL WE START WITH YOUR NAME? coming into the room, there is a proud, not arrogance that surrounds the man in uniform. you always liked a good man in uniform and upon meeting the blue eyes as he stands beside the chair, you swoon. he has a sweet look about him but with a dangerous edge, you know he would take a bullet if one was to come across the room but thankfully, you don't believe that would happen. you wonder why he is standing beside the chair instead of in it, but eventually, it comes down to the simple fact that he has not been addressed to, and so, you order him to. yes m'am his accent is thick, not completely doused in the twang but he is from the midwest at least. "commander nicholas blake parker, at your service m'am.". he seems too proper to have a nickname but you ask anyway, and he gives a nod in reply. you wait for the answer but silence surrounds you while two just stare at one another. it's awkward, you are feeling more uncomfortable with how comfortable he looks in silence. you finally ask him to tell and he does, upon the order being given. "nick. nicky. sometimes holas for a joke with my shipmates." you find yourself surprised that he could even joke. observation 1: he does not do anything unless asked. took you two times to get him to sit down even with the chair right there beside him. it seems that if there is something going on around him, he waits for orders to be given. a true man of obedience. observation 2: he is in serving in the us navy. the uniform of blue camouflage gives that much away. he is also a man of honor and pride, but he does not appear to be overly confident. he has just the right amount of pride to not let his high position go to his head. wonder what kind of leader he is. THAT'S A NICE NAME. WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING? you find that he does not slouch, he does not cross his legs or ankles, his shoulders are back, his head is high. he is proud to be serving the country. he has a dedication, a high regard on freedom as gives a light chuckle that might very well startle you. maybe you are not thinking that a man that has such a serious face could even have the ability to laugh but it's a humane reaction, and he is human. "well thought that was a tad obvious...." he sounds apologetic and even verbally expresses how sorry he is for the outburst, finding it to be out of place while you find his apology to be unneeded but you do not fight against it, instead, you nod and accept it "i'm the commanding officer of a us navy destroyer that patrols the atlantic east seaboard." there is the pride again. you hear it in his voice. you know it to be true and you find it endearing that he cares so much about the country, fighting for a cause when the moment calls for it. he is more than willing to put his life on the line for freedom and you wonder why, why so willing? why so eager? observation 3: does not step too far out of line. he gives the basic information needed and stops. no real details added. he is also a person that knows when he steps out of line in his words and apologizes quite suddenly. manners, much? observation 4: on his left breast pocket are a few medals, little blocks to honor things that he did, how did he earn those? you notice on his sleeve, by he has a silver star on either side of his collar and three strips followed by two gold stars on a navy palette on his shoulders. commander must be a high honor. INTERESTING. WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN? you are not sure if that kind of word is to be associated with someone such as himself. his complete straight posture and militaristic answers, short and sweet, using formal titles instead of actually getting to know your name kind of puts you off. he clears his throat though, and it takes him a moment which results in yet another quick apology that has you shrugging since it's not a big deal. but your first impression of him, stuck up and prideful, are turning out to be wrong but that does not mean he is not serious, you have yet to even see him crack a genuine smile. "fun? well i'm thirty so the clubbing days are out but i still go to a bar with my buddies and drink a hard day of work away." you can see it. picturing him around five or six people who are close and know him, you are quite certain that they are not school friends but are most likely those that he works with on the ship, the men that he is responsible for. you nod in reply, but you push him forward, wanting more details. "read when i can, i like to study the oceans a little more and know what i'm dealing with when out on the waters. kind of have an interest in the marine life and always thought i would be a marine biologist but traditional yielded to that dream." you can't help but raise an eyebrow, having more words that you expected but also a confession that was even more expected. you are thinking he might be opening up but the topics of drinking and reading are bland, but he does not seem to be any deeper than that also. "i hang out with my niece as much as i can whenever i dock at the harbour, she's about eight and the sweetest thing. i really like the art gallery and sometimes i just go and think in the large room with paintings on every side." you never took him for an art guy or a kid guy. seems that the man has a soft side as well, one that you were not really expecting with the job title that he had but it seems normal at the same time. he is human after all and this truly proves it as you were unsure for just a moment if he was actually capable of deep thoughts or was his entire life military. "my quarters in the ship are filled with books that i have yet to read. i work a lot so, there is not much time for stuff like that. got to keep the waterways safe after all." now you know that the man needs to get out more. he just needs to find someone interesting instead of hanging around his fellow navy workers. it would appear that nicholas, is exactly what you think he is but he has layers, they are just not all seen based on the pretty first layer that you witness before all the others. "i really like to take naps..." there is a pause and a chuckle which has you startled, and you show it with a slight tilt of your head. had he made that sound? "guess i'm just showing my age now." least he has a lighter sense of humor, or an actual sense of humor as you thought he was lacking a funny bone in his body. observation 5: when speaking of his niece, he holds a fondness to his voice that even his own job does not have. he seems to really love and care about her, and though little details are given, she must be a large part of his life. observation 6: docked? when he could? does he actually have a stable home? his quarters could mean the room on the ship but that might just mean the room in his house. he seems to have a militaristic vocabulary too, referring to things with proper titles. observation 7: for a man who seems to be working a lot, he finds times for the art. and ocean life? that was unexpected. wonder what redirecting him from the original dream of studying marine life. WOULD YOU SAY THOSE ACTIVITIES REFLECT WHO YOU ARE? this part takes a little time, more thought, more looking around and then his eyes fall back onto yours. you notice they are a striking blue, something that you took note of before but now, you see the deepness that they hold. you give him the chance to think while you began to doodle. you hear another apology and then more silence. you are growing annoyed with how much he is thinking about this. was he even thinking of the question anymore? "my life is my job. protecting the country is all i really know anymore." anymore? that word has you intrigued and you decide to ask about what he was like for if he is all about the military, all about the ocean and being protective than he is proper and professional, he obviously has manners and never steps out of line. you have noticed this with only a few minutes of speaking. art is obviously a hobby but the protection of the nation is an obsession and you where it came from. you question the younger days, the ones where he was not a military commander, when he was a child or a teenager. "i was a bit of a little shit.." you wondered when he was going to curse but just as you are about to say something, he adds more to his confession. "but i'm not that guy anymore. i had to change and the navy saved my life." you question this in your mind, you are curious about what kind of trouble he got into in his younger days but you decide to investigate that further into the interview. "now i'm just me. what you see is what you get m'am." gives a small nod before reachign for the bottle of water that was across from him "the navy changed me for the better." there was no doubt that the man was traditional and professional, he had manners, he was expressive but he seemed to lack a lot of emotions and was rather stoic in his tone. you wonder what he is like in combat. "well.." he starts but then pauses, having to take a moment to breathe as it seems that the thought of combat makes him go tense but the male does not fidget or shift in his seat. if he is uncomfortable, the only sign is through silence. "calm, collected and strategic. it's the only way to get any job done." unemotional, just as you suspected. he is calculating. "you have to be fast thinking but not impulsive. you cannot go with the first option that you are presented with. he seems cautious but not afraid. he is fearful as it seems, his job is a death wish in the end and you can't help but wonder why he is so eager to go into combat, or into the army. it saved his life? how far down the tube did he go? pov change. how do i answer this? i guess work is all that i am but i can't change that. the navy is the best thing to ever happen to me but does it define me? it did not when i was introduced to it, i was such a little shit at that point but structure and discipline was all that i really needed. funny when your own father was an army general. being thirty years old allows me to a little more experienced about life, guess i'm rather boring. "i'm content with who i am." but are you? you are such a stoic man, you have worked hard for your position but sacrificed so much for it in the end. your marriage did not work out, you nearly died in combat, but is it worth it? yes. you know it is. you protected the country you moron, you make her life and everyone else's life a lot safer. you fight for freedom because you believe in yourself and in the rights that you protect. COOL BEANS. THEY SAY YOUR FAMILY SHAPES WHO YOU ARE. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOURS? well now this is easy, you are comfortable with this subject, just do not be too forward with the rocky relationship between you and your father, and your father and your mother. not everything needs to be known nick. "i have a niece." oh angela, she is such a little angel. except she bites, i don't know where she learned to bite or that biting was okay. she does watch a lot of animal planet. maybe that's it, got to talk to katie about that one. "my niece came from my older sister by two years." now comes the tricky part. keep things light and airy. "my mother is still alive, and well." now that she is not married to my father. how do you even begin to describe the man who gave you the y chromosome. it just seems so easy to say that he is a jackass, but that's so impolite. you have been taught better. "my father is also alive, an army man himself. and thankfully, you are not turning into your father. you do not hit your wives or kids, though you have only had one wife but that's not the point, you never laid a hand on her. she just got tired of moving around so much and you really cannot blame her for that either. he, you can blame everything for and maybe you do. the navy was not set in stone until he disapproved of it, but that rebellious streak is gone. you are a good guy nick, you are nothing like your father. AND YOUR LIFE? TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PAST. I'M EAGER TO HEAR. the fun part. you had to know that this was coming, she kept hinting about furthering the parts about your history. you have to mention lisa, you have to mention your battles, the promotion, there is so much to say and you cannot even think of the proper words. she is just staring at you again, you are probably taking too long to answer again. apologize? maybe one too many times already, just talk. see what happens. ”i was born in oklahoma actually, on an army base. oddly enough to your distaste for the army. but you do have respect for them and that might balance everything out. the way that mom tells the story is so gross, so vivid, screaming, guts, ugh, it’s too much even thinking about it. do not stick your tongue out nick, don’t think about it, move on from there. ”kind of always lived on army bases. my father was a general, a good man, strong hand..” you don’t even know the half of the truth of that one, those hits hurt but it was a nice thing to know that he never hit Bethany and since he has not seen angela, you would never let him lay even the most gentle of hands on that little girl. he knocked three of your teeth out. granted, you were a shit disturber as a child but it was just attention, even the therapist said so, no need to go knocking teeth out for that. ”my mother was more than accepting of the life of being an army wife. she knew that every few months, sometimes a year, we would pack up and go somewhere new. she used to call it an ‘adventure’ bless that woman’s soul for having such a patient heart, must be where beth gets it from since I don’t have that—or I did not. i was born to be my father and maybe really hated the idea of not having a follower, someone to kiss the ground he walked on like his recruits, that was never going to be me. ”i will openly admit that I was not the best child. I tried at school, but I just was a class clown, think that is what they are called now…’ wow you are just old for saying that. what is wrong with you? ”so it was no doubt that I got into a lot of trouble with my military styled teachers.” you really do not need to get into the suspensions or detentions, how many times you wrote on the blackboard and why you can recite the declaration of independence by heart. think the point is gotten that you were not a good kid. maybe the teenage years…though that was not much better. shit, i’m really not going to look good here. guess that is not the point of this though. ”my father was always so mad. being a teenager was not any better. that’s good enough. the vandalism, the graffiti, the destruction of property off and on the grounds is not needed. the excuse of being bored did not fly with your father apparently. he did not appreciate, or believe it but it was true. nick, you were just bored. you had nothing else to do. you were forced to do so much studying and homework because you were a general’s son. think you said that the military saved your life, should that be explained. should i really go into the topic of nearly going to jail for robbing a store? shit. probably not. that is on my record anyway, it’s amazing that I even got accepted into the navy. ”i needed structure and not the kind where i was under my father’s watchful eye. i mentioned before, I think.. old ”that I was into ocean life, well combined the desire of my father with my own passion and the navy came into play. it was really a game changer and i have never regretted the decision to join/ seems legit. more detail that you expected though you left out the combat and the stupid mistake that cost three men’s lives and your careless actions to let the fleet almost be destroyed or taken over. you were young, forced into the position of commander as the first one to be killed was the man in charge. you thought you would be next. you got knocked out, you don’t even remember how. maybe you fainted but the medal attached to your left breast side is not meant for you but you accepted it anyway. idiot. guess leaving lisa out was a good idea too. don’t need that held over my head. for a man who is all about honesty, you sure are hiding a lot of secrets. what the hell nick? you need to be more open. though that seems like a bad idea too. you never stay in one spot, or you do and then you get close to someone and you have to leave—be smart this time. you are to command a new fleet, train them, and get them ready for combat. are you even ready? What about a secret? Everyone has a secret. you can do it. you have never told anyone but she looks honest, she promises that no one will ever know. what is this interview even for? take a deep breath, think, relax. he clutches the medal to his chest, and slowly pulls it off the whtie uniform, causing a small gap in the large amount of colored blocks that represent different heroic acts, leadership or promotions. he places it on the table in front and slides it foward, "you can look at it." he states softly before reaching back for it when her hand touches it but he retreats his hand and places it on the arm chair, gripping it. the medal is not the highest honor but he takes a deep breath again while it's being inspected by the interviewer, "that medal was given to me for an act that i did not deserve. i lost three men that day and nearly had the fleet destroyed because of my careless actions." ALRIGHT. TIME'S ALMOST UP. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR DREAMS. QUICK! dreams? you are living your dream, right? this is what you wanted for the longest time but maybe a life would be nice. maybe just be generic, she did say quick after all "family. kids. wife. maybe a dog." well that was easy and quick enough. world peace would be nice too but that seems far-fetched, better stick to the idea of family AND THAT'S A WRAP. IT WAS NICE GETTING TO KNOW YOU. "pleasure to meet you as well." take your hat and go. maybe salute, though that seems ridiculous since she is not higher ranking. well, she is. okay, do it. |
